'The Party Animal House' and 'The Taxi House' are now on their way to the Heidelberg Project in Detroit this week with the aim of documenting and recording all of artist Tyree Guyton's painted houses on Heidelberg Street, of which only two now remain.

These will be used as marketing material and exhibited in 2026.

The Heidelberg Project, dating back to 1986, is one of the largest, best known, and longest running site specific art installations in the USA.

Intended to draw attention to Detroit’s neglected neighbourhood and occupying more than 2 blocks along Heidelberg Street, the project has transformed its neighbourhood, covering abandoned houses, the street and the surrounding area with collections of found objects and vividly rendered paintings.

The project, which celebrates 40 years in 2026, is a moment in which to reflect on what Guyton's work has meant to the cultural life of Detroit and beyond.

With thanks to the Heidelberg Project for archive photographs, Tyree Guyton for his inspiration and dedication, and Andy Sturm, HP Exective Director, for his support, dedication and kindness.
